Project Briefs:

Juice Manufacturing and Bottling Facility Improves Water Purity and System Efficiency with SAMCO RO System

Project Overview

At a leading cranberry juice manufacturing and bottling facility in New York, the client installed SAMCO’s state-of-the-art reverse osmosis (RO) system to purify well water to meet water quality regulations set by the food and beverage industry.

Objective

Improve the client’s well water purity to 2.5+ micromhos-cm high-quality water.

Scope of Service

The client worked with SAMCO to quickly develop an effective solution that comprised detailed design and engineering, controls integration, system fabrication, commission, startup, and training.

Challenges

  • High water impurity and total dissolved solids (TDS)
  • Extremely tight time frame
  • Critical application requiring high uptime
  • Minimal operator availability

Solution

To purify the client’s well water per high standards set by the food and beverage industry, SAMCO proposed installation of a cartridge pre-filter, activated carbon filter, and RO system for superior removal of TDS, silica and organic compounds, suspended solids, and free chlorine. Ensuring the water remain suitable for drinking, SAMCO fabricated the pre-filter and RO pressure vessels with sanitary product piping made from high-grade stainless steel, and to compensate for limited operator availability, SAMCO included programmable logic controllers (PLC) that automate monitoring of flow, temperature, pressure, and resistivity. A prepackaged system enabled fast-track project delivery and high-quality performance guarantee, while a modular design allowed for future add-on capabilities.
